What is Financial Peace University?

Did you know, 64% of Americans can’t cover an $1,000 emergency?  Therefore, it’s highly you’re strapped and stressed about money.

Here’s the thing… that’s why you need to keep reading.  I want you to ask yourself this vital question, “Do I want 2019 to repeat my 2018 financial situation?”

Do you want to make changes to your personal finance story?

Summary: Financial Peace is the class you wish you’d taken in high school.  (We are working to get this material taught in our local community but that’s another story.)

It’s important to know, I don’t receive any compensation from Ramsey Solutions for teaching this class.  When I host class, I do not receive a commission for “kits sold”.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What does FPU mean?

It stands for Financial Peace University.  We all need a plan for our money. Financial Peace University (FPU) is that plan! It teaches common sense ways of handling money. Through video teaching, class discussions and interactive small group activities, FPU presents biblical, practical steps to get from where you are to where you’ve dreamed you could be.

How much is the class?

The class price ranges and is determined by Ramsey Solutions headquarters.  If you use a specific class registration link, it’s around $109.  If you purchase class material from their main page it’s $129.

How much “God Stuff” is there?  I’m interested but don’t want “religion”.

A very common question.  The class material is clearly “Christian” because the author is…. a Christian.  However, the majority of the material focuses on financial principles. It’s about 70% financial literacy and 30% his personal faith.  The Bible talks a LOT about money.  I mean…. a lot.   Most non-Christians who attend find the money theology just as interesting.  To hear from Dave Ramsey himself…check this video out where he speaks to an Atheist who is hesitant about FPU.

Do I need to share my personal financials and debt figures?

No.  Absolutely not.   We seriously don’t care how much you make or how much debt you carry.

I’m already pretty good with money.   Do I really need to take this class?

Yes.  A resounding YES and double YES! I asked this very question.  I felt I had a things “in order” but FPU blew me out of the water. I carried some dangerous misconceptions and FPU put Noah (my husband) and I on the same page financially.  Over 90% of divorces identify “financial strain” as the cause.    Money is a huge source of tension.  The class helps couples avoid financial land mines that can devastate a marriage.

I want to attend, but my spouse isn’t ready.  Can I come without him/her?

This is a tricky question. And it indicates there’s already a layer of pain and resistance regarding finances.  Of course..you CAN come without your spouse but we don’t recommend it.    Attending individually, is highly likely to cause friction and enhance any existing tension.  This isn’t always the case but … it’s very common.   Trust me, please?  I’d suggest praying for your spouse’s heart and wait for a class that allows both to attend.

I’m single.  Is the class only for married couples?

No. In fact, singles may need the class more than anyone. There are great resources offered to non-married and/or single parents.  If you have kids – wouldn’t YOU want them to attend a financial management class before getting married or picking a spouse?  Eh?

What are you selling?

Nothing.  Nada.  Zip.  We aren’t pushing any product except HOPE.  No insurance plugs. No pyramids of any kind.

I don’t think I can make all 9 classes. Is this a problem?

It’s not ideal …but not a problem.  You can watch two (2) online classes free if you miss a class.  But…. make this program a priority and you won’t regret the dedication.

I don’t agree with everything Dave Ramsey teaches. Should I still attend?

That’s ok.   But, yes….you should still attend.  It’s always great to learn a new perspective, right?  And you just might be surprised at the end.

I don’t like Dave Ramsey.  I think he’s mean.

This really isn’t a question but something we hear.  Mr. Ramsey has been doing financial coaching for over 25 years.  He’s not intended to be your best friend. He’s not your pastor.  He’s a financial coach.  Just like a personal trainer at the gym, he can be intense.  He’s going to tell you when something is wrong.  When a mistake is made…he will correct.   Millions have taken this course and changed their family tree. Personally, I think America can use a little “toughness” regarding finances.

Can I bring my kids?

No child care is provided so please make arrangements.  This is for THEIR future!    If you have children 14+ and older (and they are able to sit still), please consider bringing them!  It’s not too early for them to learn!

I already have his book “The Total Money Makeover”. Do I need to purchase the class materials?

The membership cost covers you, your spouse and all the class materials.  Just having his book doesn’t come close to covering what you need.  Reminder:  I don’t get anything from your registration.  I don’t get a “cut” from the registration class.

What comes in the Membership kit?

The kit was completely revamped October of 2017.  It includes more digital resources and online features.

Why do you coordinate the class?

A few reasons, but mainly because I am passionate about bringing HOPE into friend’s lives.  People are scared, stressed and drowning with their finances. We have seem lives changed, marriages saved and major personal victories.    This isn’t about money…it’s about FREEDOM.   I started to host classes with my friend, Sam Neylan and Keith Renno.

I recorded a “why” video with Sam Neylan a few years back and it answers some common questions.  Sam, Keith and I have coordinated many classes together!

Here’s our story…and our “why”.

NOTE: The video below has previous year’s class information.  But answers good questions anyway.
